IoT or the internet of things continues to permeate all of our lives both at home and in the workplace. As we add smarter and easier (supposed) technology to our homes we are starting to see the same in the workplace. That is because IoT can help with so much of the digitalisation needed for most employers as well as aiding in driving down costs and eliminating waste. But with such ferocious pace of development and in the midst of a global crisis, what are we going to see to fuel the top trends of 2025 and how they might effect IoT?

More AI support for IoT is likely with top applications such as

  • Real time cybersecurity, for vulnerability and attack prevention.
  • Customised learning and educational support for employees.
  • Accelerated software development.
  • Efficiency and supply chain automations.

More widespread connectivity of IoT devices because

  • More 4G networks replacing the older 2G networks
  • Satellite communication might help rural areas although it will be expensive.

Lower cost for IoT components will be seen because

  • Pricing for main components such as memory and storage will be slightly lower as we leave behind post pandemic supply issues and such.
  • More availability of components in 2025 and more competition should lower costs for endpoint devices, thus increasing adoption.

 New technology advances will mean

  • System architecture, driven partly by changes in memory and storage will change how we process and store data, which should mean less data movement and storage.
  • Chip performance improvement (especially specialised sets) will be greater, especially for edge and endpoint devices.
  • More endpoints using CPU memory and storage will enable more 'on the edge' processing and mean better, lower power devices.

New and emerging Memory Technologies offer

  • Lower prices and higher power density will increase the capability of IoT devices.
  • New types of RAM for wearables and tiny devices which will enable more power states or increase the useful life of a battery device.

So 2025 has all of the signs of a successful year for technology, especially when you add economic conditions and the increasing need to be more sustainable for Mother Earth.

But really, the top trends of 2025 will also likely be the maturing IoT solutions such as

  • Asset Tracking - know where things, plant and people are.
  • Energy Monitoring - You can't optimise it if you can't measure it.
  • Smart Lighting/Emergency Lighting - control and performance, whilst saving energy.
  • Smart Water Solutions - Everything from legionella control to smart washrooms.
  • IAQ - indoor air quality is key to safety, performance and wellness.
  • Smart Buildings - unify and optimise everything in one single pane of glass.
  • Digitalisation - using the power of IoT for everything about your business.
  • Net Zero - sustainable, decarbonisation and visibility for stakeholders.

Energy Monitoring made easy 2

There are many more of course but hopefully we have helped spark interest or curiosity in you for your journey into IOT and Digitalisation and we are always happy to help you build a plan?
